9/2000-present -----> FREELANCE GRAPHIC DESIGNER AND WEB DESIGNER -----> New York, NY.

Since moving to New York, I have concentrated on working with clients in the arts and sciences. Recent clients include: the Continuum Ensemble, a new music group based in New York; the American Academy of Ballet, a summer school ballet program at Vassar College; College Essay Prep, a college essay preparation assistance service; Tango Meydl, a Yiddish Tango performance group; Boaz Accordions, an accordion shop based in Oakland, California; and Playing With Time, a traveling exhibit on phenomena that is too fast or too slow to see due to open in St. Paul, MN in February of 2002.

For Arkady Gendler's CD release "My Hometown Soroke", I developed an English to alef-beys software tool that changes English transliteration into Yiddish characters and typeset the booklet in Yiddish, Yiddish transliteration and English. 11/96-9/2000 -----> LEAD INTERFACE DESIGNER -----> Redhill Studios, Sausalito, CA.

Designed and supervised a wide range of projects including: "HumBio, an Interactive Exploration of Human Anatomy" for Stanford University; The Chemistry Place and the Human Anatomy and Physiology Place websites for Addison Wesley Benjamin Cummings; and Exploring Time, an Interactive Exploration of Time and Change for the Science Museum of Minnesota, a traveling exhibit with 30 interactive computer components (touring in 2002).

Created storyboards and thumbnails of interactive learning activities as well as learning tools such as a virtual microscope, an interactive anatomy chart, and a notebook. Created graphic elements for CD-ROMS and websites. Directed programmers and a team of production artists. Created art with Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and After Effects.

 

9/90-6/95 -----> SENIOR INTERFACE DESIGNER -----> Ikonic Interactive, Inc., San Francisco.

Designed, produced and coordinated a wide range of work. Responsibilities included design of program flowcharts and computer-user interfaces, writing text and scripts, and production and programming using Macintosh multimedia software. Was responsible for directing teams of 6 to 15 people including designers, programmers, producers and production artists.

Major projects included:

• "The News Exchange", an interactive television news application for Time Warner, Inc. • "Seeing Time", an interactive science exhibit for The SF Exploratorium • "Amnesty Interactive", a CD-ROM title for Amnesty International • "The Parenting Place", a prototype of a monthly CD-ROM magazine for Parenting Magazine • "Welcome to NEC", a CD-ROM title that was distributed with all double and triple speed drives.

 

1/91-4/91 -----> VIDEODISC DESIGNER AND PRODUCER -----> Strategies for Media Literacy and the Bay Area Video Coalition, San Francisco.

Designed, produced and programmed "The Critical Eye", an hour-long interactive videodisc designed to teach media literacy to middle-school students. Program was created in Hypercard on the Macintosh. Developed a unique panning and scrolling interface that helps keep the user orientated in the program.

 

1/90-5/90 -----> ANIMATOR -----> Destinations Interactive, San Francisco.

Member of a team of seven animators working in Studio 8 and Director. Helped to create a six-minute video for Pacific Bell's "Texpo 90" conference in Anaheim, CA. Also supervised the transfer of the animation from the Macintosh to 3/4" Beta videotape.

 

5/89-7/89 -----> INTERACTIVE VIDEO PRODUCER -----> Interactive Solutions, Burlingame, CA.

Created graphic screens and icons for corporate interactive videodisc project for Logitech, USA.

 

5/87-5/89 -----> FREELANCE GRAPHIC ARTIST -----> San Francisco, CA.

Designed and produced many print pieces including brochures for the SF Municipal Railway, corporate reports, brochures, magazines and flyers.
